Garment Care

Follow these guidelines to keep your tees, tanks and tops looking their best.

Garments with heat transfer vinyl (HTV) designs

  1. Garment care instructions have been left in your gymgewelry.com creation as a guide for their general care. They can be removed after purchase.
  2. Wash and dry garments inside out to give the vinyl a layer of protection during the wash. Washing otherwise will cause other clothes to rub against your gymgewelry.com creation, causing vinyl to peel prematurely.
  3. Choose cold or warm water temperature settings for the wash. Water temperatures over 178˚ Fahrenheit can weaken the adhesive on the vinyl, causing it to peel or crack.
  4. Use mild detergent.
  5. Avoid using bleach and fabric softeners as they are too harsh for use with HTV.
  6. Dry on a low/tumble setting or hang dry. High heat will cause vinyl to peel and crack as well, so stick with tumble dry or low heat. Whenever possible, hang dry garments for best results as this will minimize wrinkles in the vinyl after washing.
  7. Do not dry clean. Dry cleaning temperatures and chemicals are too harsh for use on your gymgewelry.com creation.
  8. Do not iron directly on an HTV design. High heat will melt the vinyl and burn the adhesive. If you absolutely must iron your garment, make sure to use low heat and place a dish towel or cloth over the design.

Garments that are bleach-dyed or ombre-dyed

  1. Garment care instructions have been left in your gymgewelry.com creation as a guide for their general care. They can be removed after purchase.
  2. Wash AND dry your gymgewelry.com creation by itself at least once. Though the garment has been washed and rinsed after bleaching or dip-dying, the process involves a fair amount of bleach or dye. Wash and dry it separately several times to protect your other clothes from bleach or dye transfer.
  3. Wash your garment with like-colored clothes. Just as you would with other new garments, wash similar-colored items to ensure colors don’t bleed onto other clothes. This is especially important for deep colors like oxblood black and black and delicate colors like white and pastel ombre.
